The Biologic Rationale for Bone Graft Selection

The Biologic Rationale for Bone Graft Selection

There is a wide array of bone graft materials used in dental surgery. Each bone graft type has its own unique handling characteristics, resorptive pattern, and biologic signature. When we are faced with a complication or failure of a graft procedure, it can be difficult to determine the origin of the problem and the potential role of the biomaterial in the mode of failure. This lecture will help to develop strategies for bone graft selection in different procedures, graft preparation, and timing of implant placement. This biologic rationale will enhance your clinical outcomes and significantly reduce potential post-operative problems.
