"Role of Orthodontics in Interdisciplinary Management of Esthetic problems: Integrating Tooth Movement to Enhance Restorative and Gingival outcomes"
Orthodontic tooth movement can be used to establish an optimal foundation for functional and esthetic restorations. This course will highlight the benefits of an interdisciplinary approach with an emphasis on prescription orthodontics to enhance implant, restorative and gingival outcomes.
The participants will learn about:
How adjunctive orthodontics managed in an interdisciplinary manner can help the general dentist to produce exceptional implant and restorative outcomes
How to manage gingival levels to obtain best esthetic outcomes by choosing between orthodontic tooth movement, periodontal surgical intervention or both
Dr. S. Prem Premaraj is a Professor and Chair of Dept. of Orthodontics at the Nova SoutheasternUniversity (NSU) College of Dental Medicine, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Before his arrival in NSU,Dr. Premaraj has served as the Henry and Anne Cech Professor of Orthodontics, Director ofAdvanced Specialty Education Program in Orthodontics and Vice-Chair of Dept. of Growth andDevelopment at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) for 16 years. Dr. Premarajreceived his dental training from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He then completed hisinitial orthodontic training at the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM), University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He subsequently received a Ph.D. in Oral Biology and Orthodontic Certificate from The Ohio State University.
Dr. Premaraj is a Diplomate of The American Board of Orthodontics, Fellow of the RoyalCollege of Dentists of Canada (orthodontics), Fellow of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Leadership Institute and Fellow of the International College of Dentists. Dr. Premaraj is a member of the Cleft Palate and Craniofacial team at the Joe DiMaggio Children’s hospital and maintains an intra-mural private practice in Davie, FL. Dr. Premaraj was the 2019-20 President of IADR/AADR Craniofacial biology group and has served as the President of the Nebraska Society of Orthodontists.
Dr. Premaraj has extensive experience in teaching orthodontics in both pre-doctoral and graduatelevels. He has taught orthodontics at university level in Sri Lanka, Japan and USA. Dr. Premaraj has been invited to lecture at many national and international meetings.
