Public Service

The Association has an outstanding record of public service. Following the 1926 hurricane, during World War II when many dentists left the area to serve their country, and after the devastating 1992 Hurricane Andrew, the Association helped both dentists and members of the public. Throughout the years, members have successfully worked to fluoridate most of the area's water supplies, and have been instrumental in establishing accredited vocational schools for dental assistants and dental technicians, as well as associate degree dental hygiene programs at Miami Dade Community College and Broward Community College. Local dentists donate their time for educational programs and their skills in treating needy patients.
